Overview[]

This cage features an Ancient Egypt exhibition with pharaoh's bust as its centerpiece. At night the museum is closed and there are no visitors.

Activity[]

  • 20:20 Closes
  • 23:00 Curator stops answering phone calls

Walkthrough[]

  1. Make notes of everything obvious (bust, visitors);
  2. Wait for the crowd to dissipate and make a note of an inscription on the bust's pedestal (Amenophis V);
  3. Proowl bust + Amenophis V to learn the rest (exhibition, priceless, Central Museum, Kevin Elgin);
  4. Proowl Kevin Elgin to learn his phone number;
  5. You can call Kevin but he is too busy for a meaningful conversation;
  6. The Club will send a special observation study asking for a phone number of the exhibition's curator.

Observation study[]

What is the telephone number of the person responsible for the event taking place in the cage?
Correct answer (632-955-66) nets you $70

Endings[]

A: Correctly answer special observation study[]

The cage switches to pending once you reply to the study. If the answer is correct, you receive a modest sum for connecting the Club with Mr. Elgin who will apparently assist in swapping original bust with a derpy fake. The cage closes after the news which appear on the following day or the day after. This is the only way to close the cage.

B: Incorrectly answer special observation study or ignore it[]

This enables you to achieve the Mediocre monkey ending. The cage remains open until Day 16.

Questions about the Amenophis V bust
Independent experts suspect that the original was replaced by a forgery at some point during the exhibition. "That's ridiculous... Ridiculous!" said Kevin Elgin, the curator of the show.

Effects on karma[]

Answering special observation study correctly makes plant immediately go one stage down (e.g. from positive to neutral).

Epilogue[]

Ending A triggers the following epilogue card for this cage:

MuseumEpilogue
The Central Museum fired Kevin Elgin after the scandal over the switch of the bust of the pharaoh Amenophis V. He is currently the director of the National Painting Gallery, where he continues to be the subject of controversy and suspicion.

Trivia[]

  • This cage is referred to as "Museum" in Fictiorama source files.
  • Amenophis IV is the last-known pharaoh having this name.
  • Fake bust appears normal in night vision mode hinting that night vision does not simply apply a filter to cage image but rather is a separate rendering of it.
  • Kevin's surname is a reference to the Elgin Marbles, a collection of classical Greek sculptures of which half were unlawfully removed from their home country and remain housed in the British Museum today.
  • Amenophis V is referred to as "sammunMakIV" in Fictiorama source files. This is a nod to Sammun-Mak, a pharaoh character in Sam & Max video game series.
